Shani

Gulsher Khan Shani is my childhood introduction to hindi literature along with Premchand and other. I read Shani’s complex novel Kala Jal in early childhood itself. However, whether I understood what it wanted to tell is doubtful. I read Kala Jal again after some year and I grasped a little more that I did in my previous read.

I love Shani’s prose, its so relatable and blunt, just the way I like it. I find his narration specificly moving because it feels like something which happened to me or around me. I am going to give Kala Jal a read again in some time, and this time I will write a proper book review on it, hopefully.
